Love. Sex. Magic
Love. Sex. Magic.
This morning I relistened to the Esther Perel "The Erotic Is an Antidote to Death" episode on the 'On Being with Krista Tippett,' podcast and found new layers of understanding. I am intrigued by the idea of 'erotic intelligence' and the notion that to quote Esther, "Eroticism thrives in the space between the self and the other." Being curious and vulnerable with my inner world and taking that into my interactions with others is seductive. Living in love is a state of mind. It is a mindful practice that involves as much self-reflection and compassion as it does being present in our relationships. Combining this energy with our lover's energy is an aphrodisiac of creativity and joy.
So how does this relate to jewelry?
Socrates defined seven types of love, with Eros being sensual or passionate love. The AnaKatarina Eros Cameo is hand carved in Brazilian agate from my drawing of two lovers entwined. Initially considered fleeting, Eros differentiates our partners/lovers from becoming 'just' friends. If we embrace erotic intelligence, we learn to be curious about our inner world. Such interactions allow us to evolve continually and introduce these new parts of ourselves to our lovers. As a result, we are in a constant state of creative change and erotism. This energy brings us effervescent joy and sensual, passionate love with our partners. Embrace the Eros.
